Heya you all !!
Im in Venice !! :D woke up early….sat in the train ate our breakfast and I fell asleep….till 9.30….with my mouth hanging open and I think I even drooled some but the others were kind enough not to mention it..:P
From the station we got off at we had to catch a train to another station , the main one…Venice has been love at first sight…..we stepped out of the train station and there were the canals and the gondolas and blue water and the smell of water (not bad) and it looked exactly like the postcards….
Had clear directions and walked straight to the hostel…called venice fish :D ..it is sitting right on the canals….and to get to the main door we have to cross a lil private bridge with water underneath,,,,the building is a bit dilapidated but then as caity pointed out it adds to the charm….
Left our luggage and headed out to tour…..i had left my sheet of things to see so we did what the internet suggested…we literally got lost in venice…..:D it was fabulous….
Found a little pizzeria….got ourselves some early lunch…I got a wurstel…like a wrapped rolled pizza….oh my god the best in the world !! we went and sat by the canals with our feet hanging over the water the sun shining on our faces, gondola s passing by us and we had our lunch…it was intense..
Then we started to walk again…and ideally to san marco s square it takes 40 mins….but we had sooo many stops in between we reached after like 3 hours….the shops are so beautiful here….all of them sell masks !! the most intricate and detailed venetian masks…just wanna keep staring…we also entered shops selling other souvenirs like glass artifacts from the murrano island where we shall go tomoro..
Also we decided its about time to have our first Italian icecream…. It was nice J but nothing incredible..so awaiting my first mindblowing ice cream experience….
After this we went to the Rialto bridge…which was beautiful…the sunlight reflecting on the water created the most interesting shadows on the bottom of the bridge…
Then we headed to the san marco square…..it was just like in the movies….pigeons everywhere ! and the biggest area dominated by the campinili the bell tower and the Basilica….the san mrco Basilica is the best ive ever seen I think….topped the Duomo….its like gold plated inside…latin inscriptions and beautiful paintings everywhere….just classy…
I then started to chase pigeons all over the square trying to get them to fly together and get the perfect photo….but just dint happen…I managed to look like a fool and tired myself out…but it was fun :D I fed them some leftover pizza …so they came to me…..
By then I was pretty much wiped out….got some soda and then purchased breakfast for tomoro from the market….then came back….
Im sitting in the common room…it seems like a fun hostel….there is good music playing…a lot of americans and Australians and asians touring….this large room opens into a wide balcony right above the canals….:) it is gorgeous…
For tomoro we thinking about going to one of the islands nearby….one in particular called Murrano which holds glass blowing shows….:) so a pretty day ahead of us….
We took a lot of pictures and even if we try there can not be a bad picture !
The streets here are so cute and cozy….some of them so narrow where just 2 ppl can walk side by side…. And then it ll open into a bridge and a gondola passing below us….sooo pretty…
No wonder this is the honeymoon destination….so here we are 4 girls …in the most romantic city in the world….it has been great so far !!
At 7 tonight we have dinner…this hostel gives free dinner….:D all of us just sit at this huge rectangular table and its like home…they serve food and we all eat like one big family….
Pasta and fried vegetables !! :D woweeee…
im definitely coming back to venice another time in my life....it is just too lovely....
bye for now !! off to get som good food and anecdotes from all teh other travellers here....
